Amazing New Photos of Lhasa Chaos

From The Economist’s reporter, the only foreign journalist accredited to be in Lhasa (permission granted well before the protests):

(Note the graffiti on the right side.  It says “Tibet” folowed by the letter “ra”, which is the first letter in the word “rangzen,” meaning independence.  Hence “Free Tibet.”)

(Toilet paper as make-shift khatas (ceremonial white silk scarves given at greeting or departure), “inviting” China to leave Tibet.)

(Note the soldiers in green uniforms.  These are People’s Liberation Army, not police.)
