Please contact U.S. presidential candidates on Tibet

Posted on March 18th, 2008 by Lhasa Rising in Politics

We’ve now posted the statements on Tibet of all three U.S. presidential contenders: Senators Clinton, McCain and Obama

Thank you for your words, Senators, but it’s now time to follow through with concrete actions

Please call the candidates to let them know how you feel about Tibet.  It will only take a minute, and will make a huge difference.  Here’s contact information for Senators Clinton, McCain and Obama.

As a suggestion, you could ask the candidates to back up their words on Tibet by taking the following three actions:

 1) Demand that the Chinese government immediately lift the media blackout in Tibet by letting in foreign reporters, and tell China that any crackdown in Tibet is unacceptable.

2) Press the US government and the UN Human Rights Council to immediately send international observers into Tibet

3) Support a boycott of the Beijing Olympic Games’ opening ceremony, as suggested by the French foreign minister.
