The Tibetan Freedom Torch has just been lit in Olympia, Greece, the birthplace of the Olympics, launching its five-month relay around the world before the start of the Beijing Olympics on August 8th. The twelve Tibetans organizing the ceremony in Olympia were trailed and harassed by Greek security agents, as well as by 15-20 Chinese government officials who appeared in the small town of Olympia yesterday, shortly after the Tibetans arrived. Teams from AP, Reuters, and BBC were present for the ceremony and attempted to interview the Chinese watchers. Live video can be seen here.
