While we all want Tibetan freedom I would urge you all to think about how we all act towards the Average Chinese citizen. Many Chinese want the same thing as Tibetans that being freedom. Freedom from the same brutal regime called the CCP. China was just as much taken over by the same brutal group and I think many of us do consider this, but there is a number of Tibetans and supporters that I have run into that have pure hatred to all Chinese not just the CCP. While I do realize that many Chinese do support the CCP I urge us all to instead of just tossing of a shield of hatred to instead look at each individual we come across and judge for ourselves where these individuals stands and when possible befriend that Chinese and let them know that we are there for them just as much as for Tibetans. Like it or not Tibetans need Chinese and Chinese need Tibetans in order to rid both countries of the CCP and we can no longer afford to have hatred as part of the cause. I urge you all to when possible in the new year and beyond if you have the chance to show a Chinese person that we are not against them but against the CCP that harms both countries take up that chance and work together for the same goals. Like it or not we need the Chinese on our side more then they need us due to sheer population but if we all work together Chinese & Tibetan then maybe we can achieve our goals faster. Showing hatred only shows the Chinese that you do not care about them or their cause for freedom and just leaves a huge divide between the two cultures. Let us all try and work together to rid both countries of the CCP rather then continue to have these childish immature fighting and name calling that I see on both sides. We should all be better then the CCP and together we can surely be stronger and invincible against the CCP. I know in the last 2 months I have befriended a young Chinese girl whose a victim of the 1 child policy and now living in the UK and is interested in the human rights issues of both countries. One supporter (Name withheld) that a lot of you may know has the sort of attitudes I explained above and has been sort of vile to her. Had he taken the same time he has taken to bashing her he would have seen he is picking on the wrong person. We need allies not enemies and he has chosen to make her an enemy rather then the ally she can become as she learns more. She has the interest and that interest has to be nurtured not destroyed through hatred. So please my pledge in the new year is to consider my own actions when interacting with Chinese and I urge you all to take a second look at how you all act. I know Tibetans they have their own personal histories with the Chinese and this maybe hard and has to be chosen from the heart but we supporters don't have that as an excuse and should be working to do what we can the best way we can. Don't let potential allies slip away because of a 4 letter word HATE Thuje Che David N (NYC) Tashi Delek
