Public Service Announcements
After a half century of repressive Chinese occupation, Tibetans all over Tibet are rising up to demand their freedom and human rights. Their protest comes with great personal risk: hundreds of peaceful protesters are estimated to be incarcerated for their actions, and over 150 were reported killed.
The Chinese government hoped to use the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing to win global public approval for its policies in Tibet. Instead, the Games have shined a media spotlight on China’s egregious and worsening human rights record. Students for a Free Tibet has launched a PSA campaign to raise awareness of the crisis in Tibet and increase the pressure on world leaders to act. Please help us seize this opportunity to mobilize a concerned global public to increase pressure on China to respect its human rights commitments and push for meaningful change in Tibet.
